Changing Of The Guard

Monday February 27, 2006

By O. David Dickson

My three years as Chairman of the Board of the Foundation have been very rewarding and I would like to acknowledge the following people for their help and support during my tenure:

  • First and foremost, my wife Jill, whose patience, time and council I draw on daily.
  • Dan Van Dusen, for the high standards he set during
his nearly nine-year tenure on the Board and for
always being available as a mentor.
  • Janet Neimi, our Executive Director, who hit the floor
running when she came on board almost five years
ago and has not slowed a bit—her management has
propelled us forward to tremendous achievements.
  • Terry Finklein and the Board of Trustees whose
support of the Foundation have been phenomenal.
  • Our hard working, can-do board for making my job
exciting, rewarding and sooooo much easier. We are
very fortunate to have strong leadership and a
forceful work ethic in the Executive Committee and
    Committee Chairs.
  • Past board members Bob Hauke, Barbara Glick, Linda
Keizer, Mike Autio, Rod Leland, Robert Holland MD
PhD, Arnold Curtis and Russell Solt who gave
generously of their time and talents. Duane Jue DMD,
who will be leaving the board this year, has also
added a great deal of support and giving to the
Foundation. We will especially miss our long time
friend, mentor and Director Emeritus, Rob Mangold,
    who passed away recently.

The CMH Foundation Board has added new members
during the past year: Roger Phifer, David Carneiro DMD, Jim
Flint PhD, Bill Marczewski and John McLoughlin, DMD. They
are adding new ideas and perspectives to our labors.
What have we accomplished over the past six years:

  • Recruited Janet and her support staff
  • Inaugurated our first CMH Employee Campaign
  • The Murdock Grant for Trauma System Upgrade of
    $150,000
  • The Thrivent Grant for planned giving seminars of
    $35,000
  • Columbia Invitational Golf Tournament—net
revenues of over $100,000 for three successive years
  • Two successful Monte Carlo Events
  • CMH Foundation state of the art website
    (www.cmh-foundation.org)
  • Annual Fund Campaign
  • Capacity Building Plan
  • Policy Governance
  • Hot Shots Espresso stand
  • The Grateful Patient Campaign
  • OB Surgical Suite
  • Healing Garden & Family Lounge

As I step down, I hand over the reigns as Chairman of the
Board to Bill Lind. I look forward to great things and the
beginning of major new endeavors with Bill leading the charge.
